First thing in the morning we jumped in our Jeep and hit the road. There was so much to explore it was hard to know where to start. Our resort was fairly central so we headed to the south end of the island. Thanks to Pinterest I had a few places in mind to check out. The first was the tree tunnel.
As fun as it was we found much better tree covered roads in other places. We still loved it though.
This road took us down to the Po'ipu coast. Lots of resorts and home of the blow hole, the spouting horn. They said it wasn't very active the day we were there but that's ok it was still fun. We even did a little shopping at the vendors along the walkway there. Can I say it was so nice to shop without being accosted by the vendors!
It was just beautiful there. We drove all around and decided we needed to try the famous shave ice:
It was so hard to choose a flavor. I picked Pina Colada with Macadamia ice cream and it was fantastic! I mean really!!
Then we broke in our Jeep and got off the paved road to go to the end of the road. The drive to Polihale State Park was awesome! And there were hardly any people out there. Just gorgeous.
Then after checking out the state park we headed back and went to Waimea Canyon. It was glorious. We weren't expecting to be wowed because even though it was called the Grand Canyon of the Islands we've seen the real Grand Canyon. But it was really impressive.
The views were incredible. There weren't alot of view areas so we were sure to hit everyone of them.
As we were taking pics at one of the view areas there were a bunch of young kids taking pictures and jumping back in their car. One guy yelled out to his friends, "Wait, there's a waterfall!" First of all how in the heck did they not even see it. and what were they taking pictures of then?
At the top of the mountains and the end of the road was the most beautiful view we have ever seen. Really ever! The Napali coast. It was just glorious and pictures do not do it justice.
What an incredible day. I can't believe all we fit in and there's still so much more to see and do.
