Day 2 Albuquerque to Fort Smith, Arkansas

A big travel day today. Again. We hoped to get out super early but we were so tired from yesterday it wasn't as early as we hoped. We grabbed breakfast at the hotel in Albuquerque and off we went east. We arranged to meet up in Tucumcari, NM for lunch at the "Get Your Kiks" diner. A great Route 66 stop for sure!
 Ready for lunch!
 We love this diner.
The burgers are amazing and the milkshakes are to die for. There goes the diets!!
After lunch Ashley and I drove through more of Tucumcari and got some pictures of this amazing town after we spent some time at this very cool curios shop in the tee pee.
There are some very famous signs and places here. Loved it!
After we drove through town we all met up again for dessert at the Midpoint Cafe in Texas. They are famous for their ugly pies and this time we wanted to arrive when it was open!
MidPoint is so cool. Right at the center of Route 66.
Such a cute little old time cafe. We really enjoyed the pie too.
After messing around with food all day (it seemed like) it was time to get some miles under our belt. Well at least until the Cadillac Ranch in Texas.
Groom Texas
The sky was starting to look stormy as we got closer and while the guys made past before the rain hit we did not. Too much sight seeing?
We couldn't even get out of the car and get a closer look for Ashley because it started pouring just as we pulled up, literally. So we drove on and looked for a souvenir shop where we could buy Rees a shirt since he is in love with the Cadillac Ranch.
Lo and behold right behind this Car dealer is a shop. We ran in and checked it out.
We really dreaded getting out and then we really dreaded running back to the car. It wasn't that far but we got drowned in a few short seconds. So off we continued on through Oklahoma where the storm finally cleared up. We stopped for dinner at Cane's and away we went again. We really enjoyed driving through OK City.

It was quite a beautiful city. Lots more driving and about 11 pm we finally made it to Fort Smith Arkansas for the night. There are so many trees there we just drove right on by the town without seeing anything there. It was great to get out of the car and truck for the night even if it was late.
