Christina's Home!

It was so fun to have Christina here for a couple of days. She got here in time for the tea party and got to stay for a couple of days. Friday we ran into Vegas and did some shopping.
Of course we hit Zupas!
WColdwater Creek which was a disappointment oh well. We got to two malls and got a couple more things for family pictures. The great find of the day was at Charming Charlie's.. Love that store and how come I have never heard of it before?
Saturday night we took her to Tuacahn to see The Wizard of Oz.
That's two summers in a row for her. We spent Saturday night at a hotel because the next morning we headed up to Cedar City for Bryce's farewell.  He is going to South Korea on his mission and leaving July2.

Alyse is about to become an only child for awhile.

Ashley & Benjy celebrated their anniversary (since it's in December they do it in June) and asked Christina if she would stay with the kids for about 24 hours. I told her I could help her so I took Monday off and we hung out at Ashley's house for the day. I did not spend the night with her though. I figured she was on her own for that!

Fun Pinterest activity I found

The awesome water toy

So Christina took the kids to the park while I put Dane down for bed. When they came back I had strung red yarn up both sides of the hall (with Ashley's permission) for a spy obstacle course. It was perfect because I told them true spies had to be as silent as possible so they didn't disturb the enemy or in this case Dane haha.

I think they loved it. What a fun weekend. It went by in a flash as usual!

Tea Party Part 2

Everything was ready and it was time for the guests. I had issued a challenge to come dressed for the part but only Cheryl and Lori were brave enough and they were tiaras. I put on my old prom dress for a few minutes for kicks and to get into the spirit of things! Nope I could not even remotely get it zipped up!
Luckily I only wore it for a minute and then I plopped the floppy hat on just for good measure.

We had a great turn out of friends and family. It was so fun to hang out with everyone for the evening. We ate and then we played a few games. We did a memory game and tried to remember the 25ish Victorian items on the tray. We played a trivia game. That was hilarious when we figure out some gals were using their smart phones to help! Then there was the relay race which was probably the most fun.

Cheryl and Lori really got into it by pushing each other around. At some point Shona threw someones gloves down the hall and it went on from there. I loved it.

The pinata was filled with nothing but chocolate. Because it was so hot outside we actually put the whole thing in the freezer while we waited. Benjy built this incredible stand just for the pinata! It was so fun whacking at it. Shona was the one who broke it finally and kept apologizing for breaking it. Hilarious!

It was such a fun night and a great party. Everyone went to so much work it was amazing. I think I can safely say everyone had a great time. No one left hungry wither that's for sure. We had such fun that the next night we got together with Alisha and watched a bonnet movie together and ate leftover treats all night too.

My Tea Party Part 1

Ashley was in the valley now and wanted to throw me a birthday party of some sort. We thought a tea party would be fun so she ran with it. Seriously she worked on it for weeks and weeks making things and planning. Christina was able to come down the day before and help her get things ready. At the last minute we had to change the day because everyone was going to be out of town. But by doing that lots more women were able to be there so it was worth it.

Adorable paper tea cup favors for everyone

Besides the herbal tea bag they were filled with shortbread

Our come in sign

Our little helper

Close up of the sidewalk decorations. They were embossed even.

The food was incredible

Every kind of herbal tea made was represented I think.
So after all the work and fun of pulling it together we were ready...

Happy Birthday to Me!

What a birthday I had this year. The girls threw me a tea party (that's another post) and Mendis took me shopping and out to dinner. And on my birthday everyone kept coming by work and giving me presents...awesome. So I picked out what I wanted for my birthday and it was going to require some shopping. I wanted something totally frivolous and crazy fun. Something I probably wouldn't even get myself. So I got a Royal Dalton Tea Set. Crazy huh. I shopped online for weeks to pick it out and get the best deal because it is crazy expensive for a china tea set.
Beautiful right!! Polka Blue Pattern...love it to pieces.
After the afternoon of shopping and tracking this baby down we went to dinner. We went to Emeril Lagasse's restaurant The Delmonico Steakhouse in the Winn. Way fun. It's one of those places we always wanted to try and it was worth the wait.

This was the dining room we ate in. The place was huge and this was one of about 4 rooms. So let me take you through our dinner with us...
Incredible fun appetizer of apple slice with honey mouse with praline sprinkles

Popovers for our bread. They were so good I asked for more.

My Wilted Spinach & Frisee Salad with praline encrusted bacon. Divine!
Almost done. That fried poached egg was fab.
Mendis' New Orlean's Gumbo

My ribeye

Mushrooms & Creamed Corn Gratinee

Mendis had Bananas Foster Brownie

I had Emeril's Banana Cream Pie. It was like a heavenly cheesecake.

Here we are posing with him after dinner lol.
It was an incredible meal but definitely just for special occasions. After dinner we got to see all the weirdos decked out for the electric daisy carnival. Lots of traffic for that clear out to the speedway. Every year we get to fight through that hoard of crazies.
