Day 2 Nan Lian

Doug had early morning meetings on Sunday and Charisse hadn't arrived since she was getting her replacement passport overnighted. Her purse was stolen with her passport in it when she was home in Utah just the day before she was due to return. So long story short Mendis and I were on our own and had to get to Church to meet up with Doug. We wanted to try McDonald's while we were there and it was across the street so breakfast seemed like the perfect occasion.
Our view outside the Holyoak's window
It took us a bit to get the hang of the ordering kiosk. Loved the egg on the hamburger. The cup of corn was an interesting touch. The fruit cup in the bottom of the sprite was delicious.
We navigated the train system (MTR) just fine after all our instruction from Doug and actually found the chapel in Kowloon. It was right across the street from the Temple.
We went to Sacrament meeting in the Mandarin branch. It was exciting to have to use headsets and have it translated for us. After church we went across the street to see the Temple closer and enjoy the Temple grounds while we waited for Doug.
When Doug arrived he took us to Nan Lian Gardens and the Chin Lin Nunnery. It was all spectacular!
This is the nunnery and it was full of gold buddhas and we weren't allowed to take pictures.

One of the things I loved about this was how this ancient site was right in the middle of the modern city. It was amazing to see the contrast.
There was a pavilion for wood, one for rock and there was water and ponds and streams everywhere.
After the gardens Doug took us across the city to see his office and the building where he works at Price Waterhouse Cooper.

The view was amazing but scary! He explained the way the Chinese built their building with fung sheu and dragon holes. All very interesting.
